Eagle Hills acquires Mandarin Oriental Munich from Mandarin Oriental
Abu Dhabi-based investment company Eagle Hills, controlled by UAE billionaire Mohamed Alabbar, who is also the founder of UAE developer Emaar Properties, has acquired the five-star, 73-room Mandarin Oriental Munich, Germany, from Hong Kong-based Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group for an amount reported to be ¤150 million (¤2.06 million per room). The property is situated in a prime central location in the city’s Old Town, just a short walk from the main square, Marienplatz. The hotel includes three restaurants, a bar and three meeting rooms. The transaction is expected to be completed within the next six to eight weeks.
Pontegadea acquires Hotel Banke de Paris from Derby Hotels
Billionaire Inditex founder Amancio Ortega, through his family office Pontegadea, has acquired the five-star, 90-room Hotel Banke de Paris in France from Spanish owner-operator Derby Hotels Collection for an amount reported to be ¤97 million (¤1.08 million per room). The property is situated in Paris’ 9th district, just a short walk from the Opera / Palais Garnier. The building used to be a bank headquarters and was converted into a hotel in 2009, but has been closed since the Covid-19 pandemic.
Barceló acquires Evergreen Laurel Hotel in Paris from Evergreen
Spanish owner-operator Barceló Hotel Group has acquired the four-star, 338-room Evergreen Laurel Hotel in Paris, France, from Taiwanese conglomerate Evergreen for an amount reported to be ¤70 million (¤207,000 per room). The property is situated in Paris’ Levallois-Perret district just outside the city’s northwest border. The hotel includes a restaurant, bar and 10 meeting rooms. Evergreen has owned the site since constructing the hotel in 1997. This transaction marks Barceló’s first hotel in France.
Meridia acquires two hotels in Madrid from Extendam
Spanish investment company Meridia, on behalf of its Meridia V fund, has acquired the 2-star, 230-room Hotel Madrid Centro Atocha and the 1-star, 156-room Ibis Budget Madrid Aeropuerto in Spain from French private equity firm Extendam. Extendam acquired the Atocha site in 2020, developed the hotel, and opened it in 2022. It is located near Madrid’s Atocha train station, whilst the other property is located by Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport. Malaysian operator Continuum Hospitality Group has been operating both hotels and will continue to do so under hotel management agreements.
Fortress acquires Ragdale Hall Spa in Ragdale, UK, from local hoteliers
New York-based investment management firm Fortress Investment Group has acquired the 93-room Ragdale Hall Spa hotel in Leicestershire in England, from hoteliers Michael Isaacs and Penny Nesbitt, who had owned the property for 35 years. The hotel is situated in the East Midlands, between the cities of Nottingham and Leicester, and includes a restaurant, two bars and a spa with six pools. U.S.-based operator Davidson Hospitality Group will support the hotel’s team in managing the property.
Extendam sells Ibis Paris Tour Montparnasse in France
French private equity firm Extendam has sold the three-star, 45-room Ibis Paris Tour Montparnasse in France. The property is situated in Paris’ 15th district by the Tour Montparnasse and includes a breakfast restaurant and bar. Extendam acquired the hotel in 2019 and completed renovations of the guest rooms and common areas within the first half of that year. Since the acquisition, the hotel has been operated by Extendam’s operating partner Ker Hospitality.
Chapter 6 acquires former Hotel 3.14 Cannes from Groupe Partouche
French owner-operator Chapter 6 has acquired the former four-star, 94-room Hotel 3.14 Cannes on the French Riviera from French gambling conglomerate Groupe Partouche. The property, which is just 100 metres from the beach, formerly included a ground-floor casino. The hotel closed in 2016, and the casino relocated in 2024. Chapter 6 plans to fully refurbish the hotel and reopen it in 2027. This marks the group’s third hotel on the Côte d'Azur.
Korner Hotels acquires Hôtel de l'Exposition République in Paris
French owner-operator Korner Hotels has acquired the three-star, 28-room Hôtel de l'Exposition République in Paris, France. The property is situated in Paris’ 10th district, near the Gare de l’Est train station, and includes a breakfast restaurant. The hotel will remain open until November 2025, after which it will undergo extensive renovations before reopening under the Korner brand. This acquisition marks the group’s tenth hotel, all of which are located in Paris.
MNK Partners acquires Travelodge Gateshead in the UK from IM Properties
French investment management firm MNK Partners, on behalf of its Reason SCPI, has acquired the two-star, 71-room Travelodge Gateshead Whitemare Pool in Gateshead in the north of England, from UK investment company IM Properties, for £4.85 million (£68,300 per room), representing a reported yield of 7.7%. The property is situated by the motorway outside the town of Gateshead that adjoins the city of Newcastle upon Tyne, and also includes a commercial unit leased as a Burger King restaurant. The hotel is fully leased to Travelodge with 14.5 years remaining on a fixed-term lease.
Essendi sells Ibis Budget Bordeaux Sud Villenave-d'Ornon to hotelier Fauré
French owner-operator Essendi (formerly AccorInvest) has sold the two-star, 76-room Ibis Budget Bordeaux Sud Villenave-d'Ornon in France to independent French hotelier Frédéric Fauré. The property is situated in southern Bordeaux by the motorway and includes a breakfast restaurant. The hotel is now scheduled to undergo extensive refurbishments of all guest rooms, public areas, and the breakfast restaurant, under the new Reboost concept of the Ibis Budget brand. This marks Fauré’s fourth Accor-branded hotel, among them the Ibis Styles Bordeaux Sud Villenave-d'Ornon, situated directly opposite.
