AJ Capital Partners has acquired Greywalls Hotel next to Muirfield in Scotland, one of the world’s most iconic links courses, and Mid Pines Inn and Pine Needles Lodge in North Carolina’s Pinehurst region—growing the Marine & Lawn portfolio to eight hotels in top golf destinations worldwide.

The brand expands its footprint in Scotland with the addition of Greywalls Hotel, a historic estate bordering the famed Muirfield Golf Course, and enters the U.S. market for the first time with the acquisition of Mid Pines Inn and Pine Needles Lodge, in the storied Pinehurst region of North Carolina.

Greywalls Hotel | Gullane, Scotland

Overlooking the 10th tee of the revered links of Muirfield, Greywalls is an Edwardian estate steeped in history. Designed in 1901 by the renowned architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, with gardens by the globally celebrated landscape designer Gertrude Jekyll, the property has long served as a discreet retreat for royalty, golf enthusiasts, and worldly travelers alike. Privately owned by the Weaver family since 1926, the property has now been entrusted to Marine & Lawn as its next steward. Through a relationship with The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, guests of Greywalls will receive access to Muirfield, one of the world’s most exclusive and revered golf courses—a sixteen-time host of the Open Championship that is currently ranked #6 globally by Golf Digest.

Marine & Lawn’s in-house design team will lead a thoughtful restoration of Greywalls, reimagining its interiors, food and beverage program, and overall guest experience while preserving the estate’s architectural legacy and connection to Muirfield. Located just 30 miles from Edinburgh Airport and surrounded by five of Scotland’s top-ranked courses, Greywalls is uniquely positioned to anchor a world-class golf itinerary on Scotland’s Golf Coast.

Mid Pines Inn & Pine Needles Lodge | Pinehurst/Southern Pines Region

In Southern Pines, North Carolina—part of the famed Pinehurst region—Marine & Lawn has acquired the Mid Pines Inn and Pine Needles Lodge, two 1920s-era sister properties that sit beside Donald Ross-designed championship courses. The hotels will undergo a comprehensive restoration led by AJ Capital’s design team, featuring fully renovated guestrooms, new dining concepts, and refreshed public spaces.

As part of the expansion, AJ Capital is partnering with the iconic Donald Ross–designed courses—Mid Pines and Pine Needles—to offer hotel guests priority access and curated golf packages, building on Marine & Lawn’s vision to elevate these hotels as the premier golf resort in the American South.
